Culture is the essential glue that binds us together and cultivates a sense of belonging and purpose.
As an American who ventured into the heart of Europe to join a startup, I've experienced firsthand the magnetic allure of this continent. My curiosity about Europe goes back to my time working for an amazing Finnish company as part of the US team. The more I delved into European work culture, the more I discovered its notable perks, like generous paid time off and extended paternity/maternity leave being the most obvious. It’s no exaggeration to say Europeans seem to have mastered the art of achieving a harmonious work-life balance – a fairly stark contrast to the North American ethos characterized by long work hours and rising to the top by not taking PTO. To be fair, not every American or business conforms to this stereotype, and many have embraced progressive practices to stay competitive.
At Forvio, we're all about taking time off to recharge (within reason, of course). We love planning epic outings, like weekend ski trips to the High Tatras of Slovakia or spending summer Fridays hiking or grabbing a drink in the city center. These activities bring us closer as a team and give us a chance to relax after giving it our all. Our co-founders get it - they know that building a positive work environment and keeping the team happy is the key to success and ultimately giving our customers a great experience.
